One of the final preparations I did before the birth of our second child was to put some pre-made smoothie packs in the freezer. They are great for an easy breakfast, or a wholesome snack when I’m busy taking care of my newborn and toddler!
Smoothie packs are so easy to make, and I love how versatile they are! You simply pre-portion out your fruits and greens, pop them in the freezer, and when the day comes to have one, you just dump them in the blender and turn it on!
We always keep almond milk and orange juice on hand, so I’ll add those to some of these blends, as well as some almond butter or honey. If you want to go the extra mile, you can add your nut butter or sweetener to the bag in advance, but I felt like most of it would just get stuck to the bag, so I add mine right to the blender.
I made my mixes based on what I like, as well as what fresh produce we had in the house. Feel free to mix these up however you like. The basic quantities are what will give you a good base:
1 to 1.5 cups of fruit
1-cup of greens
1-2 tablespoons of additives (honey, nut butter, protein powder, etc.)
Here are some of the mixes that I made:
Peach Mango Smoothie – 1/2 cup sliced peaches, 1/2 cup mango chunks, 1 cup baby kale – Add 1-tablespoon of almond butter, 1-tablespoon of honey and 1-cup of almond milk OR orange juice and blend well!
Summer Fruit Smoothie – 1/2 cup cubed apple, 1/2 cup whole blueberries, 1 cup watermelon chunks, 1/2 cup mango chunks – Blend well & enjoy!
Mango Avocado Power Smoothie –1/2 cup cubed avocado, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1 cup mango chunks, 1 cup baby kale – Add 1 cup fruit juice of choice and blend well
Blueberry Blast Smoothie – 1 cup whole blueberries, 1 cup baby kale, 1/2 cup cubed apple, 1/2 cup watermelon – Add 1 tablespoon almond OR peanut butter
